WortMusik (Words and Music)
Even the poet Heinrich Heine was enraptured by Fanny Mendelssohn's expressive eyes. "Eickhorst and Vogler proved an impressive combination. Felix Mendelssohn's ‘Song without Words' in A clearly sets out to express the same unclouded happiness as the extract from Fanny's diary describing her married life. Fanny died very suddenly in 1847, followed a mere six months later by her brother. His ‘Variations sérieuses' rounded off a successful recital full of vivid impressions. Konstanze Eickhorst performed brilliantly again and deservedly shared the applause equally with Karl Michael Vogler." (Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung)
For many years Konstanze Eickhorst collaborated very successfully with one of Germany's great actors, Karl Michael Vogler, who sadly died last year.
Their much-acclaimed musical soirée "Geschwister der Romantik - Fanny und Felix Mendelssohn", a celebration of the great brother and sister duo, has been issued on CD by "steinbach sprechende bücher".
In preparation for the new season Konstanze Eickhorst has been working with the actress Johanna Gastdorf on a new programme of words and music to be called "Fanny und Charles". This virtuoso musical and literary event centres on the inspirational encounter between Fanny Mendelssohn and Charles Gounod in the Villa Medici, Rome, in 1840.

ISBN 3-88698-506-7
"Karl Michael Vogler's reading, gentle and intimate yet electrifying, succeeds in bringing Fanny out of the great shadow of her brother. This was also the intention of Konstanze Eickhorst in her selection of the interspersed contributions by Felix and Fanny. The pianist has chosen highly demanding pieces which reveal Fanny as a composer with a passionate temperament…."
